THE SCIENCE BEHIND HIIT

HIIT, or high-intensity interval training, is a training technique in which you give all-out, one hundred percent effort through quick, intense bursts of exercise, followed by short, sometimes active, recovery periods. This type of training gets and keeps your heart rate up and burns more fat in less time. A high-intensity workout increases the body’s need for oxygen during the effort and creates an oxygen shortage, causing your body to ask for more oxygen during recovery.  This afterburn effect is referred to as excess post-exercise oxygen consumption (EPOC) and is the reason why intense exercise will help burn more fat and calories than regular aerobic and steady-state workouts.  HIIT workouts are scalable to any fitness level, making it a popular format for group fitness classes. Your goal is push yourself to 90 percent of your personal max in the intense intervals, and this varies among individuals. Using the rate of perceived exertion scale to measure your efforts helps keep the workout individualized.

DASH is a boutique fitness studio located in the heart of Pottstown, PA. We’ve upgraded the group workout experience with great instructors and great programming to deliver great results. Smaller class sizes allow our caring and credentialed instructors to treat everyone like a VIP. We as Humans hunger for connection.  In a solid community there is exactly that.  I think that by connecting with people is the basis that allows us to build a deeper connection with ourselves.  In my opinion, that IS the X factor. Yes people want a kickass workout, and we’ll give them that. But people also want to feel like they are a part of something, and that is our goal at DASH.  You’re not part of a workout, you’re part of a team!! (A really cool, badass team)

Whether you’re a beginner or expert, our trainers keep you safe, challenged, and smiling throughout class.

Classes are big enough to be high energy, but small enough so trainers can teach proper form and modify for individual needs.

While every class has a total body focus, our programming varies daily to prevent fitness plateaus. You’ll progress with each and every class and look forward to the next one.
